Hallie has been taking one good nap (1 hr 30 min) and then screaming the whole time for her second nap. I figured that was a good sign that she is ready for only one nap, but then she is getting 5 teeth all at the same time (which could throw things off). Plus she still acts tired later in the day.
WHEN did your kids make the transition to one nap and was it longer than 1 hr 30 min.?
Koen was right around 13 months. But it was mostly cause it was more convientent for me. He always took his 1 nap around 12:30 ish and would usually sleep like 2-3 hours. BUT I think that just depends on your child and their sleep habits. It is always hard dropping naps. Wait until she is 3 and dropping them all together. Still grumpy and tired in the evenings, but wont nap. Oh the joys!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter dropped her second nap at about 16 months. She started waking up at like 5am instead of her usual 7am but she also wouldn't sleep at all for that second one. I moved her to a nap right after lunch (about 11:30ish) and she struggled at first but overall did much better with that setup. The first few days she would only sleep an hour or so but I kept putting her back in bed for a couple days and now she sleeps about 2.5 hours. I wouldn't settle for 1.5 hours right now - it just isn't enough for their little bodies (or for me!) But, that's just my opinion. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAshlyn went to one nap just a couple of weeks after she turned 1. She was taking two really good naps and then she just refused. I tried to keep her on the two nap schedule for a couple of weeks, but she would just talk or cry the whole time, so I finally realized she was ready for one. The first week was a little rough and every two or three days, I would make her go back to two naps, but it really only took a week or two for her to get on a decent one nap schedule.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time, her nap is only 1 hr 30 minutes. I wish she would sleep longer, but our pediatrician said that an hour and a half is actually a really good nap as long as they sleep really well at night (Ash still sleeps about 12 straight hours at night).
