Babysitter?

So what is the going rate of a baby sitter these days?  

It has been years since I was paid for babysitting so I have no idea.  I'm afraid of offending someone by paying them an amount that to them seems cheap. 

How much do you pay?

    I would love to find this out too, good question Brittany! I think I used to get paid around $5/hour, I'm sure that has changed though since that was like 12 + years ago :)

    I always ask the first babysitter I have when I move what they charge. If they don't have an answer then I ask what they generally get paid.

    I used to get paid a dollar and hour a kid. Great for big families I guess. We've only paid a babysitter once and if we did that method she would have only gotten 3 or 4 dollars. I just asked her and she said $4/hour...I had already been planning on 5/hr so that's what I gave her.
