Getting rid of the Pacifier

At one point it is a BLESSING yet at another it becomes a BURDEN. How do you ween a baby/toddler of their pacifier?

  1. Easy- it's worked for me every time. Just snip off the end of the binkie. When they put it in their mouth it will flatten and they will think it's broke and throw it away themselves. Then you are not the enemy- The binkie just broke.

  2. BTW, it's just a tiny snip you need to make- don't take off a big chunk!

  4. I didn't give a binkie to my first because I didn't want her to be sucking at 2+ years old. But with my second my sister-in-law said she gives her babies binkies when they are newborns, but weens them off of them before they reach 6 months. She had one for 3 months, one 6 months, and one 4 months, just however long they REALLY needed it. I tried it with my second and he only needed it about 4 months, and it was SOOO easy to ween him at that age. I do give my babies security blankets, though, so they have a continues security item.
