Amazing and oh so talented Marci wants to know when to move her baby into his own crib and out of his bassinet?
She writes, "I am having separation anxiety just thinking about it, and would like to know when everyone else did and what their reason was for the move."
My daughter was two or three months or so when my husband moved her out :) I, too, had separation anxiety...but you'll probably get over it quickly when your sleep improves. I slept so much better because I didn't wake up to every little breath she took or to every little wiggle.
I moved both my boys out of my room as soon as possible, I just can't sleep w/ them in my room. Babies make so many noises during the night that it helps me sleep a lot better having them out of the room. My 1st was a week old and my 2nd was about 3 1/2 weeks old. I just moved them out as soon as my mom came to help and then just kept them out :) You really do sleep a lot better.
I say three months, that's plenty of time to have them with you, and a good time to get them in a crib. It will take adjustment at any age after they've been with you constantly and you hear every breath they take. Good luck!
With our oldest we had to move her out pretty soon after she was born because her little noises kept us up all night :) But with our second, she is actually still in our room because her older sister can climb into the crib, so we just worry about her safety. But I think it is a good thing to do after a few months so they get used to their own environment and so they can sleep on their own. It is also nice to have your room back :)
I've moved all my boys out at around 3 months.... mostly because they start to outgrow the bassinet! Also, that's when they start sleeping a little better. When they're so tiny and waking up several times a night it's just easier to have them right there. When they only wake up once it's not a big deal to go into their room.
This blog is for advice, stories, questions, support etc. that young mothers may have. I myself am a young, 27 year old, mother of two. A 3 1/2 year old girl and a 18 month old baby boy. I know I need help and imagine other mothers do too. I plan on posting questions etc. every few days and I hope that you, the readers, will respond by commenting. Let's help each other out!

ReplyDeleteI just moved my little guy out 2 weeks ago, at 4 weeks. It is bliss, and even more so for the hubby! Now he doesn't feel sleep deprived too!
