Hallie keeps spitting it out when I give it to her in her sippy cup. Once I even put a touch of chocolate syrup to lure her into swallowing. No LUCK! Did it take awhile for your kids to take to cow's milk after being nursed or is this just one more area my darling daughter is showing her stubborn side?

Koen didnt like it either. However a couple of baby scoops of Nesquick did do the trick for him. He still will only take plain old milk every so often.
ReplyDeleteMy son was pretty good about it actually- I introduced it slowly- try 1/4 cows milk to 3/4 breast milk or formula for one week, then 1/2 and 1/2 for one week, ect until you get to full cows milk. It took a month and then he was fine! If you are exclusively nursing, that could be the problem transitioning to drinking milk out of a cup, not the actual milk.
ReplyDeleteMy little guy did the same exact thing, I even tried the chocolate syrup thing too! I first tried to introduce the milk in a sippy cup as well. Then I thought, hmmm...I wonder if he'll take it in a bottle. I had heard not too long before that when babies drink from a bottle they don't really taste what they're drinking as much b/c the nipples are long and it goes straight to their throats. A sippy cup it's much shorter and they can taste it more. So, I tried a bottle and he took it right away! After a while I decided to try the sippy cup again, he took it! So, I don't know if that works for everyone, but it worked for my lil one. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAlexis hated cows milk and refused to drink it, so much so that i ended up buying the toddler formula so at least she'd drink something. Every once and awhile i would try cows milk but it took awhile until she'd drink it. And she'll only drink it from a bottle, no sippy cup, so we're still working on that one. So good luck!! I like to see on these comments that other moms had the same problem because it seems everyone i've talked to had no problems switching their kids to cows milk. But now she loves it! by the way the chocolate milk thing never worked for her, she to this day will not drink that stuff.
ReplyDeleteHey!! I feel like we haven't talked FOREVER!! I've been wanting to call....but you know....my minutes :) Anyway...I have a question for your blog...has anyone heard of Lily Padz for breastfeeding moms? Like them? Hate them? Do they work?
ReplyDeleteHey Britty, just wanted to add in my experience...if this is just one of Hallie's stubborn tricks, don't worry...Avri had it too...uh-oh...these two will be FIESTY roomies/companions/BFFs :)...Anyway, Avri didn't care for milk at first either. I didn't make a big deal about it, just still offered it to her every now and then, and she eventually came around. She loves it now! I wouldn't worry too much...she's being exposed to lots of new things/foods as she grows, so just be patient. :)
ReplyDeleteI nurse my babies till they are one. They never drink from a bottle... I start them on a sippy cup (with water) when they are around 6-8 months. When they turn one I put a touch of strawberry syrup in my boys milk and they did okay... I gradually reduced the syrup. Now they are milk fiends! They drink milk all day and night!
ReplyDeletei was fortunate w/ethan when he was younger, he's gotten more ornery as he ages ;)
ReplyDeletei used his bottle & added milk to his formula gradually .. he took it & still LOVES milk to this day! as w/everything else just hang in there & keep trying! it'll happen eventually ..
