Getting a Toddler to Drink More

How do I get my almost three year to drink more? This may be TMI but her pee is usually dark yellow and so I know that means she needs more fluid. I have been trying to get her to drink more but have been unsuccessful. Any tricks or tips you have for me?

  1. Remember that fruits also have a lot of water in them and she may prefer those to drinking more. Also, my kids love chocolate milk (I dilute it with regular milk) and they drink a ton on the occasions I purchase it.

  2. I know juice isn't always the best but I get the juice that has no added sugar and give that to my daughter at one or two meals throughout the day. I also take a water bottle everywhere I go and offer it to her constantly. Usually being out in the hot sun for a while gets her pretty thirsty so she usually takes it. I also make the water or juice pretty cold. If it's not cold Noelle won't drink as much.

  3. my daughter likes to drink in "special cups" like a grown up water bottle or something that is just hers maybe help her pick out a special water bottle. Also if my 2 year old hasn't had enough water and won't drink I put a flavor pack in it I use propel zero because the sweeteners seem the least offensive to me. I also used to watch some 6 year olds and we would see who could drink their cup of water the fastest the great thing was if they lost they would want to try again she might be old enough for that

  4. So i just now looked at this blog again...bad me. Anyway with daycare i have learned that if you give a kid a straw...any kid, of any age they will drink lots more than usual. I was having an issue with them all wasting their milk at lunch and breakfast so i started giving out straws...now they ask for more. Hope this isn't too late of a response. :)
